In September 2025 the team from the Eric Liddell Centre in Edinburgh invited us to perform one of their Lunchtime Concerts - soup, sandwiches and music plus good company!
We took this opportunity to do a live recording of some of our new songs. A big thank you to Sandy from Channel 7A for audio production, and the audience and team at the Eric Liddell Centre for the warm welcome.

Make Your Own Kind of Music
by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weils, arranged by Frances Cockburn
This song was first recorded in September 1969 by American singer Cass Elliot of The Mamas and the Papas. Our version was inspired by Paloma Faith's recording, which was used for a car advert (but don't let that put you off).

In October 2017 it was time for our annual recording trip, this time to beautiful Loch Lomond. The weather was very wet, so we got lots of new songs recorded. This is Noches, Noches, a Bosnian folk song sung in the Ladino language.

This is a Hungarian song, one of the first ones we learned as a trio. The words were written down by Márkus Miklós and the arrangement is by Lajos Bárdos. Imagine a campfire up in the mountains and the bells of a distant village...

The Eriskay Love Lilt is a traditional Hebridean love song, sung here in the original Gaelic. |
In summer 2023 we were approached by Anthony Kramers, a chaplain with NHS Lothian, to record a special version of Ca' The Yowes for the organisation Held in our Hearts. Held in our Hearts is a charity that supports bereaved families in the community. Find out more about them on their website.
The words to this version, Hold her/him close (My bonnie dearie) were written by da Noust.

In autumn 2022 we took ourselves away to a cottage in the Scottish Borders. In the peace and quiet we recorded some of our new songs, including the two below, which are accompanied by a Shruti box.

The Snow Hare

Ca' the Yowes

Another song we recorded is The Lavender It Grows High, which is an original song written by our very own Frances. Frances was trying to find a happy love song for us to sing, one where the girl gets the boy. When her search was unsuccessful, she decided to write one instead - and her girl even has the choice between two suitors ....

The Scarlet TideThe Scarlet Tide is a song from the soundtrack of the film Cold Mountain. It was written by Elvis Costello and T Bone Burnett, arranged by Tom Fettke.

Follow the HeronThis is one of our favourite songs by Scottish singer Karine Polwart, so it's no wonder Frances arranged it for us. We hope you love it as much as we do!

The Bonny Lads
The Bonny Lads
The first song in this duo is called Ma bonny Lad and is a traditional song from Northumbria. The second one is also a traditional song, just called My Bonny Lad. Both were arranged by Frances Cockburn. |
Race You Home
Our autumn 2016 recording trip took us to Eyemouth, a picturesque fishing village on the East Coast of Scotland.
We spend a couple of productive days recording new material, including this cover of Race You Home, a song by alternative folk band Paper Aeroplanes. |
Race You Home (Rehearsal version)
Back in August 2016 we were asked to perform at a friend's birthday. One of the songs was Race you Home, and we were delighted when local musician Tim Pomeroy agreed to accompany us on his guitar. This is a recording of our rehearsal - only the second time we met with Tim, and minutes before we performed the song for the birthday girl. Recorded with a phone, the quality is not brilliant, but we love it anyway
